April 6th – May 4th
Opening Reception: Saturday, April 6th, 6:00 – 8:00pm
As Alexandra Broches states, she “Returns again and again to the garden as subject matter, from the small urban front yards, to parks, cemeteries, memorials and other managed landscapes on a larger scale. These photographs explore what a garden is and what the garden has meant at various times in history, how societies relate to and live in nature. They reflect the ways people bring plant life and the act of growing things into their lives for survival and pleasure, for food and for spiritual and creative expression.”
Broches is a fine art photographer. She lives and maintains her studio in Wakefield, Rhode Island and has been a member of Hera Gallery since 1975. In addition to exhibiting at Hera, she has exhibited her work in New England and nationally. Most recently her work was shown in the three-person show Site Specific at the Chazan Gallery in Providence and the Newport Annual Juried Member's Exhibition at the Newport Art Museum. The exhibition will take place in Hera Gallery’s new location on 10 High Street in Wakefield, RI. The public is invited to attend the opening reception of The Garden held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6th.
