Gallery Talk and Q & A Wednesday, September 19th 3:30 to 4:30pm Please join us Wednesday, September 19th from 3:30 to 4:30pm for an informal gallery talk and Q & A by our current exhibiting artists, Myron Rubenstein and Barbara Pagh.  Myron Rubenstein,  Heads Up , Intaglio, 2010 Myron Rubenstein Myron previously worked as a graphic designer, and created art for years with traditional media, with a focus on canvas, oil and mixed media.  Over the last few years he has embraced his digital skills, searching for the convergence of traditional painting, photography and the virtual world of computing. Incorporating today’s technology with traditional painting on canvas has led to a very personal form of computer generated art. He has most recently shown in the Candita Clayton Gallery in Pawtucket, RI. Tea at 5 Please join artists Elizabeth Lind and Viera Levitt for 'Tea at 5' at Hera Gallery on Thursday, August 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. for a cup of tea and an informal talk about their work. The first double-solo show in the new Hera Gallery space is ending on September 1st and we invite you to celebrate the new space with us in this closing reception. Elizabeth will also bring the tools she uses to create her stone sculptures. Tea and music provided and the event is free and open to public. The new exhibition space showcasing Elizabeth Lind on the right, and Viera Levitt on the left. Figs, Figures & Other Mysteries Elizabeth Lind speaks through the language of symbols, creating sculptures of women, evocative environments, and natural objects that allude to deeper meanings within the work. Happy Summer, Golfers!   Do you golf or know someone who does? We are pleased to host our second annual golf tournament on Saturday, September 8th at the North Kingstown Municipal Golf Course to benefit Hera Gallery. All proceeds will go to the costs associated with running our non-profit art space and help Hera Gallery bring meaningful art experiences to South County.  Teams of four will enter the tournament for a fee ($100 per player) that will include the greens fees, cart, a great barbecue chicken and rib dinner, and prizes.   There will also be raffles and contests including a hole-in-one contest to win a brand new Chevrolet car from Al Cerrone!  Dinner and raffle only is $30 per person.     Location:  North Kingstown Golf Course                   615 Callahan Road, North Kingstown, RI Date:        Saturday, September 8th      ...

Bravo: Work of Art Contestants on Bravo's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist compete for a top prize of $ 100,000 and a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum . Let me give you a spoiler alert, I mention who wins the first three episodes!! Each round of the competition, the artists create a work of art according to certain specifications given to them, and are judged to either win, remain in the competition, or get eliminated from the running. The first show had the artists doing portraits of each other in an open medium competition. An architect, Amanda, was the first to go with her abstract patterned piece that judges claimed could never be seen as a portrait. Artists of many types are asked to do work that they may never have considered . The second required sculptural work made of found objects, presented to the artists in the form of a pile of old electronics, and a $ 100 budget at a hardware store.
