Tea at 5 on Thursday, August 30th

Tea at 5

Please join artists Elizabeth Lind and Viera Levitt for 'Tea at 5' at Hera Gallery on Thursday, August 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. for a cup of tea and an informal talk about their work. The first double-solo show in the new Hera Gallery space is ending on September 1st and we invite you to celebrate the new space with us in this closing reception. Elizabeth will also bring the tools she uses to create her stone sculptures. Tea and music provided and the event is free and open to public.

Figs, Figures & Other Mysteries
Elizabeth Lind speaks through the language of symbols, creating sculptures of women, evocative environments, and natural objects that allude to deeper meanings within the work. Employing direct carving techniques and using the tools and materials of thousands of years ago, her work explores the fluid nature of shifting forms under the stone's surface.

Beauty in the Beast: Photography of Brutalist Architecture
Through her photographic exploration of a style of architecture often seen as soulless and austere, Viera Levitt provides us with a new lens to discover its hidden beauty. Viera's photographs have been able to capture abstract and geometric sculptural forms, elegant details and even harmony in these architectural "elephants" through her clean artistic style that "listens" for echoes of the architecture's grandiose and utopian vision. Supported in part by RISCA's Project Grant.
