OPENING SATURDAY FROM 6-8PM! Alexandra Broches Letters and Pictures from a Box While closing her family home after her father died, Broches found a box containing more letters, photographs and documents than she had previously seen. Her father rarely spoke about the loss of his family and what had happened to this Dutch Jewish family during World War II. So began a project that continues today to construct the family narrative and reflect on the process undertaken to understand who she is and where she came from. The mysteries and memories within the box constitute the foundation of the photographs and personal reflections in this exhibition. Alexandra Broches is a fine art photographer. The "PAINT!" opening reception was this past saturday and Hera Gallery would like to thank all who attended and helped make the night a success. We are excited to have Jon Campbell, instrumentalist and singer, performing live at our postcard fundraiser, Having a Wonderful Time! , this Saturday July 20th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Campbell is f resh from an engagement performing with the Rumi Poet Coleman  Barks.  He has been a  RISCA Folk Artist since 1982 and has  several postcards in the show.  Hope you can join us!  Click Here to Find Out More!

  In Cuba With Witness for Peace May 11th  – June 8th  Opening Reception:  Saturday, May 11th, 6:00 – 8:00pm In Cuba With Witness for Peace portrays in photographs the people, culture, and landscape of Cuba.  The photographers, Iris Donnelly, Michael Hyatt and Eliud Martinez recorded their trip to Cuba in April, 2012 while part of an Arts and Culture delegation with Witness for Peace New England. The exhibit is consistent with the mission of Witness for Peace (WFP), a nationwide, politically independent grassroots organization, which supports peace, justice, and sustainable economies of the Americas by changing US policies and corporate practices that contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean.    The Cuban Constitution guarantees its citizens the right to appreciate all forms of artistic expression.  As the photographers visited artists' studios, art schools and music venues, they saw that art and music are ...

Repeat Repeat Michael Yefko April 6th  – May 4th Opening Reception:  Saturday, April 6 th , 6:00 – 8:00pm “Repeat Repeat” is a conceptual installation of sculpture, painting, and drawing that explores the repeating moves made by an artist. Responding to the geometric patterns in movement, culture and environmental systems, Yefko is drawn to the repeating rhythms of life in all its complexities. For Yefko, repeating marks, shapes, and color act as metaphors for breath, recovery, desire, and cultural patterns. “Repeating oneself is as essential as breathing,” says Yefko. Yefko, who lives in Exeter, RI, has worked as an art educator, carpenter, and artist for 35 years.
