Karen Stackow exhibiting in The World’s Smallest Art Gallery* through February 1, 2015.             Karen is showing a series of pyrographic works entitled Fire Spirits. She has created images with a wood burner on weathered shingles, cedar scraps, and rounds cut from downed trees on her property. Karen describes herself as a “daughter, friend and lover” of Mother Nature and these pieces form a heartfelt testament to that relationship. Karen sighted a mountain lion on her property and this event had great impact on her attunement with the natural world. Her portraits of animals and trees in The World’s Smallest Art Gallery reflect a deep appreciation of the spirit that lays beneath the surface. John Kotula, "Honeysuckle #1" Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends! The Gallery will be closed today, but Friday from 1-5 and Saturday 10-4 we will be open. John Kotula's "Into the Garden" and Jason Smith's "Myths & Revelations" is on display until December 20th. Both artists will be giving a talk on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7pm. The World’s Smallest Art Gallery * is pleased to present the work of Melyssa Lentini through December 15, 2014.              Melyssa Lentini studied art at CCRI and UMass Dartmouth but then she took a fifteen-year hiatus from artwork. She has recently begun to work again and is turning out vibrant, eye-catching paintings and collages that seem equally influenced by Mexican Folk Art and 60’s psychedelia. Suppose Peter Max and Frieda Kahlo had a love child who grew up to be an artist, she might do work that looks a lot like Melyssa Lentini’s.   Actually, Melyssa relates that when she decided to start painting again, one of the first things she did was a replica of Peter Max’s The Different Drummer. She also names Frieda Kahlo as a major inspiration noting that she identifies with her struggles with health and relationships. Paintings by Pop Icon will be on display in The World's Smallest Art Gallery through November 1, 2014. Pop Icon has worked in the arts for over 20 years. After attending The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley College and classes at Rhode Island School of Design, he devoted his time to running an art group known as Pop Icon & The Cocktail Club and dedicated a lot of his time in the fight for free speech and equality. Pop's primary focus is on post modern art that draws from the banal and kitschy elements of Pop Art with a major emphasis on color and fun. Pop most recently has garnered international notoriety for his series of 8x9 paintings called Art pour le douloureusement ignorant; which consist of robots, skulls, voodoo symbols & musical instruments. Hera Gallery will be open later this week, but we'd like to share a sneak peek from our upcoming exhibition "New Visions"!  Opening Reception will be Sat, September 6, from 6-8pm. "New Visions" will display the work of Connie Greene, Mara Trachtenberg, Elizabeth Lind, MJ Yeager, Jill McLaughlin, and Iris Donnelly (who's photographic work is pictured below!).

No photograph seems to be able to fully capture Jason Smith's intricate oil work,  so come see it in person from 10-4 today!   We also have the work of 16 other gallery artists on display as well!

Greg Barnes in The World's Smallest Art Gallery Greg Barnes' drawings will be on display in The World's Smallest Art Gallery* until September 15, 2014. Greg is a twenty year old artist who lives in Newport, Rhode Island and attends the New Hampshire Institute of Arts. He is majoring in graphic design, but is enthusiastic about many different approaches to art making. In addition to these excellent drawings he also does digital work and videos. Greg's work often reflects political events and the way they impact the community and each of us personally. He uses social media and the internet as part of his inspiration as an artist. He says he wants to be part of the creative flow of the world. *The World’s Smallest Art Gallery is: • A kiosk on the South County Bike Path ( http://southcountybikepath.org/ ). It is located in Peace Dale where the bike path crosses Route 108. The kiosk is a beautifully designed and built structure that has two display cases...

"current" will have Brickley's Ice Cream at the reception tomorrow night!  Choose from either chocolate or chocolate chip cookie dough and fix it up right with sprinkles, sauce, and whipped cream! Join us from 6-8 pm to view this collection of new work by our members.
