Upcoming Exhibit, Troy West and Claudia Flynn
Hera Gallery is pleased to present two simultaneous solo exhibitions:
TROY WEST: NEW WORKS
CLAUDIA FLYNN: RECLAMATION
Architect and artist Troy West’s recent works include architecture drawings, models, and proposals for the Main Street Rediscovery Project. In addition; a sustainable affordable in-fill housing prototype, an example of a 650sf green roof cottage and green bus shelter. His charcoal drawings, mixed media collages, and paintings accompany sketchbook entries from direct travel observations. His sculptures are made from societal detritus and discoveries of nature, together forming a total environment in the gallery space.
Claudia Flynn often works with conventional objects and an unconventional use of materials, translating meaning and value into a broader narrative of understanding and potentiality. The sculptures in this show are examples of her conceptual articulations of the traditional, the spiritual, and the esoteric. Her large paintings are made entirely with nail polish enamel applied with house-painting brushes, cosmetic industry brushes and at times, toothbrushes on mirrored surfaces.
The public is invited to meet the artists at the opening reception on August 28 from 6-8pm, and the concurrent shows run thru October 2, 2010.
