Cigar Box Lottery

Image
Hera Gallery is pleased to announce our spring fundraiser, a Cigar Box Lottery. Hera has invited 50 artists to transform simple cigar boxes in any way imaginable. Whether painted, collaged, printed, disassembled, or sculpted, the result will be 50 unique works of art. The boxes will be made available to purchase via a lottery system, which guarantees every ticket buyer a one of a kind piece of artwork. This lottery will take place in April, at a venue yet to be announced. Every ticket is guaranteed a box, but there will be a limited number of tickets sold, so it quite an exclusive fundraiser. Tickets will cost $50 to receive a box, but all are welcome to attend the event without buying a ticket. There will be food, refreshments, and music at the lottery event. Please contact the gallery to purchase your ticket, and good luck! Boxes top to bottom: Barbara Pagh, John Kotula, Roberta Richman

I believe this process of dislocation and re-contextualization asks the viewer to consider the photographs in a new way. It is a study of how the meaning of an image can shift, depending on the context and who is doing the looking.' PRESENCE (CONWAY) will be on view from Thu...
