It's Throwback Thursday! We had quite a few old postcards delivered to the gallery this week and thought that we'd share the ones from past anniversary exhibitions.  We're celebrating our 40th Anniversary Exhibition in two weeks! Featured here is Amy Goldsmith's Sculpture made from Portland Cement, Peat Moss, Rebar, Pearlite, Paint, Sketches, Image Transfers, and Ink. This interesting piece is part of the current exhibit "Landscape at the Edge: Contemporary VIews". Hera is open Wed-Fri 1-5PM, Sat 10-4PM!

It's Throwback Thursday! We're throwing back to the year 2000 when we held our  annual Children's Exhibition in February.   We wonder who amongst these now young adults are still creating art or remain creative in other ways. (We hope all of them!)

H aving a W onderful T ime!    Announcing the Fourth Annual Hera Gallery  Artists’ Postcard Fundraiser Past Submissions for Inspiration! Dear Members and Friends, This summer, Hera will hold its fourth annual postcard fundraiser! We are seeking artists’ postcards created as original works of art to sell at $15 each for benefit of the gallery. Postcards will be displayed in the gallery from June 11-14, 2013. An opening reception featuring music, food, and fun will be held on Saturday June 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Following the event, postcards will be permanently on sale in the gallery. Please create postcards for this event and recruit other artists to aid in this effort. You may contribute individual postcards or editions of postcards. Due to unfortunate shipping circumstances, Robin Gibson's woodcut, "Rocks", will not be exhibiting in "Landscape at the Edge: Contemporary Views". However we would still like to share it with you! Opening Reception is tonight 6-8pm!

Mithu Sen will be at URI next Tuesday! Mithu Sen is an Indian artist known for her fantastical and provocative multi-media (painting, drawing, performance...) works that earned her India’s inaugural Skoda Prize in 2010. Sen studied at Santiniketan before continuing her art studies at the Glasgow School of Art. Sen’s work consists of motifs that playfully subvert commonly held beliefs about femininity and sexuality. Sen’s intuitive, free-spirited practice invites viewers into her own personal psyche and streams of consciousness, allowing them to discover new identities including their own. Sen exhibits internationally. Her recent exhibitions/performances include the Tate Modern, England and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the Devi Art Foundation, New Delhi, India and the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland.
