H E R A  G A L L E R Y Is pleased to announce an open call for… Landscape At The Edge: Contemporary Views Juror:   Michele L’Heureux is a working artist, Gallery Director of The Beard and Weil Galleries at Wheaton College, and Curator of the Kniznick Gallery at Brandeis University. Concept:  The contemporary viewing of the landscape is pluralistic and reflective of human relationships to the natural and manmade environment. This national juried show seeks a varied perspective on what contemporary landscape is through the artist’s engagement with the subject. We seek to explore the meaning of place, political or environmental issues related to the landscape, urban and rural landscapes, natural and manmade landscapes, or other points of view. Hello Hera Gallery Community! My name is Hannah Hebert and I am the new spring intern for Hera Gallery! I am Rhode Island native and a junior at the University of Rhode Island. I study Fine Art and am also extremely interested in my Art History classes. I am most passionate about portrait painting but I also enjoy dabbling in different kinds of printmaking. Having now discovered that my path in life truly lies in the art world, I look back on my childhood experiences with art and can’t help but smile. I always liked to doodle and draw, but I never considered myself to be especially good. I can still remember when art really clicked for me. I went out to take pictures with my friend who was especially good with photography. I didn’t expect any good photos but before I knew it I had all these great pictures. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  Hera Gallery exceeded our Annual Appeal goal by more than $1000! We were able to raise $4598 in funds for our 2014 programming! We are so grateful for our friends near and far and look forward to providing you all with another wonderful year of artistic excellence. It is because of your support that Hera will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary in May. 

TOMORROW! 8 From '08

Hera Gallery is pleased to present "8 from '08: A Reunion of Artists from URI's Class of 2008", an exhibition of artists who continue to create and produce art five (and a half) years since their college graduation. The eight exhibiting artists are as follows: Ron Augustus, Isis Brighton, Zachary Furman, Valerie Ann Kitchin, Mary Kudlak, Abigael McGuire, Arthur Mead, and Kiera Place. Works will include a wide variety of media including, but not limited to, photography, film, printmaking, and other mixed media. This event is curated by recently instated Hera Director and exhibiting artist, Abigael McGuire. The exhibition is a one night only event from 6-8pm on January 18th, 2014. It is open to the public and will take place at Hera Gallery located at 10 High St, Wakefield, RI. Kiera Place "Untitled" from the series "Abandoned: Seaside Sanitorium"
