Newport Mercury, Vol 256, No. 14 4/10/13 The Newport Mercury featured member Alexandra Broches in last week's issue to promote the Newport Art Museum's Newport Annual Members Juried Exhibition. Broches received honorable mention in the Newport Art Museum show that runs through May 19th. She was one of three Hera members to win accolades in the show. Elizabeth Lind earned First Place in the Three Dimensional category and Barbara Pagh earned an honorable mention for her piece in the Prints/Pastels/Drawings category.

  In Cuba With Witness for Peace May 11th  – June 8th  Opening Reception:  Saturday, May 11th, 6:00 – 8:00pm In Cuba With Witness for Peace portrays in photographs the people, culture, and landscape of Cuba.  The photographers, Iris Donnelly, Michael Hyatt and Eliud Martinez recorded their trip to Cuba in April, 2012 while part of an Arts and Culture delegation with Witness for Peace New England. The exhibit is consistent with the mission of Witness for Peace (WFP), a nationwide, politically independent grassroots organization, which supports peace, justice, and sustainable economies of the Americas by changing US policies and corporate practices that contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean.    The Cuban Constitution guarantees its citizens the right to appreciate all forms of artistic expression.  As the photographers visited artists' studios, art schools and music venues, they saw that art and music are everywhere.
